Barton Creek Lakeside is a Certified Firewise Community

BCL has been a Firewise Certified Community since July 11, 2012. To maintain BCL’s certification and ensure that residents and property are kept safe from the risk of wildfire damage, the National Fire Prevention Association has issued the following guidelines:

  • Trim all grass, weed, and brush not to exceed 8” from the ground.
  • Remove all flammable debris, dead wood, salt cedar, and immature volunteer cedar from vacant lots.
  • The canopy of all healthy, mature trees should be kept trimmed allowing 6 to 8 feet clearance from the ground. All tree pruning cuts must be sealed immediately to avoid the risk of disease, mainly from Oak Wilt (see “Oak Wilt”).

Vacant lots are mowed as the POA Board’s Landscaping Committee deems necessary to maintain neighborhood appearance and reduce pest infestation.

It takes each lot owner and resident to comply with all guidelines for wildfire mitigation to keep our certification, reduce our risk of wildfire damage and protect our community.
